Hankham Pupils Plant Out Winning Seaside Design

Pupils from Hankham School will take the Dotto Train on the 11th June as they make their way along the seafront to Holywell for an important event.

They will meet The Worshipful The Mayor, Cllr Greg Szanto, and representatives from Eastbourne Borough Council as part of the ‘Seaside In-Bloom’ initiative organised in conjunction with Eastbourne Education Business Partnership.

The school won the annual ‘In-Bloom’ competition for Eastbourne primary schools in March and will be helping the Mayor and staff from Wyvale Grounds Management to plant out their winning carpet garden design.

This is the fourteenth In-Bloom design created by local primary schools.  The initiative contributes to school curriculum work by putting learning into context and developing links beyond the classroom.

Simon Hurt from Eastbourne Parks and Gardens and Eastbourne in Bloom, is very pleased with this colourful and topical contribution to the annual seafront displays.  Hankham’s winning design will be seen by hundreds of visitors and residents over the summer months.
